The New Poetry  

My name is Nicky Jones. I am a daughter, wife, mother, step-mother, ex teacher and psychotherapeutic counsellor. I live in the beautiful Welsh countryside, and over the past few years have devoted my time

to renovating my old stone house, walking my dog, a spaniel called Daisy, and to writing children’s stories and poetry.

I set up Copeland Books in 2008 because I wanted to help the other poets and writers…

ASSEF AL-JUNDI’s poetry has been published in a variety of anthologies and periodicals: Chance of a Ghost, Poetic Voices Without Borders, Inheritance of Light, The San Antonio
Express-news, to name but a few. He has been posting poetry and artwork online since December 2006. He lives in Texas, U.S.A.

DIANNE ARTHUR is a qualified Holistic Therapist and Lecturer. She won a poetry competition at the age of ten, and studied poetry at A level, but did not take up the art again until recently. After winning several poetry competitions, she began posting her work on MySpace where she has built up a following. She lives in Cornwall, U.K.

MARGO CANDELARIO has pursued a successful career in art. Her work has been shown widely, from New York to Hawaii. Widowed with three children in 1996, she now writes stories for children in the hope they help others cope with the loss of a parent. Margo was nominated for Author of the Year by the Georgia Writers Association 1999, for “Take Me to the Water”, her first collection of poetry.

ROBERT D. EDELMAN, aka: The Pisces Poet, lives in Ontario Canada. He majored in English, Art and Spanish and worked as an interior decorator for thirty years. His love of word imagery has always remained with him; he writes lyrics as well as poetry.

MICHAEL FARRIS was born in Austin, Texas. He spent the next forty years wandering the zigzag path of childhood to adulthood, returning to Austin in 1988, where he now lives
with his artist/therapist wife Kathy.

NICKY JONES taught in Secondary Education for ten years
before leaving the profession to bring up her two children. She
trained as an Integrative Counsellor in 1997, and worked in
Primary Care until recently. Her poetry has been published
in a variety of magazines. She lives in North Wales. U.K.

MERILYN LEMOND was born in Sydney, Australia. Her
inspiration is mainly drawn from her liaisons in the performing
arts, particularly dance-theatre and mime. Her two children ,
now grown, mean she is able to devote her energies to the
magical world of words.

JILLIAN PARKER’s birth as a poet coincided with the diagnosis
of her fourth child as autistic. She now spreads awareness of autism
and advocates early intervention for children with learning disabilities.
The inspiration for her poetry comes from the Alaskan countryside,
her five children, and the problems and delights of everyday existence.

MARY ISABEL RIOS loved poetry from an early age. Her great-auntie
read “Bombas,” Spanish poems to her when a child , and she began
writing her own poems when a teenager. She also draws portraits and paints. She has two grown-up daughters and lives in Manhattan. U.S.A.

JOHN SLAVIN was born in 1986. He lives in Reeth, North Yorkshire. U.K. He started writing at the age of six: short stories for his parents. Once he reached his teens, he realised writing poetry was an ideal way to express the feelings and emotions associated with growing up. His passion for writing continues.

JANICE WINDLE trained in Fine Art at the Central School of Art. She began writing poetry after retiring from teaching in 2006. She travels to Italy often, finding inspiration there for her painting and writing. She is a regular contributor to ‘Dogzplot’ online literary magazine, and is a member of Poemhunters.com. She lives in Surrey. U.K.
